LHS Girls Tennis Team Places Third at Dodge

The Lady Redskins scored 24 points to take third place at the Dodge City Tennis Invitational on Thursday. Great Bend led the way with 50 points followed by Dodge City with 46 points. Other competing teams included Scott City, Hays, Garden City, Meade, and Dodge City/Blue.

Individual Results:

#1 Singles--Susan Nguyen went 3-0 finishing 1st Place. She defeated Kelly Brauer from Dodge City/Blue 8-3. She defeated Elizabeth Huck from Scott City 8-1. Then in an exciting championship match, Susan Nguyen nocked off talented Amelie Comte from Great Bend 8-4 to take 1st Place Honors.

#2 Singles--Valerie Rito went 1-2 on the day. She lost another tie-breaking match to Katy Salmans from Dodge City/Blue 8-7 (7-0 in a tie-breaker). She defeated Renee Kippes of Hays 8-6 before losing to Meade's Ashton Ross 8-4.

#1 Doubles--Caitlin Workman/Kathy Nguyen went 1-2 on the day. They Lost to Meade's Cordes/Harshberger 8-0. They defeated Hays' Hickert/Homburg 8-4 before losing to Garden City's Victor/Steward 4-8.

#2 Doubles--Shelby Hay/Kassandra Rosales went 1-2 on the day. They lost to Great Bend's Harris/Stoss 0-8. They lost to

Garden City's Sterling/Steward 2-8 before defeating Meade's Piteo/Harder 8-6.
