Redskin Field Turf Nearing Completion
08/27/2009

Redskin Field is covered with green turf and red end zones. Yesterday crews began inserting the words "Liberal" and "Redskins" in the end zones. USD 480 director of auxiliary services Alan Haskell said yesterday morning this project is nearing completion. "There's a few of the markings for the soccer field which they (Hellas) feel like they will finish today," Haskell said. "Then they put their sand and rubber mix on the field. If won't have any delays with the weather, they feel like they'll be done by Saturday."

Haskell says Hellas workers gave USD 480 officials a walk through of the west bleachers and the track. There are a few minor details to complete on the west bleachers. The track is in good shape before the markings. The east bleachers still need work. "The bleacher people are back and working on the visitor's bleachers," Haskell said. "Projected time on that is about 10 days."

Liberal hosts their first soccer game September 3 and the first home football game is September 11.
