Liberal Police Dept. To Participate In Enhanced Click It Or Ticket Campaign

KSCB News - May 12, 2014 11:35 am

The Liberal Police Department in conjunction with approximately 150 other law enforcement agencies in the State of Kansas will be cracking down on impaired driving and unrestrained drivers. The Liberal Police Department will be increasing patrols by staffing additional officers in order to arrest those who choose to drive under the influence, beginning on May 19th, 2014 through June 1st 2014.

“It is not uncommon for 5 Kansans to be injured and 1 person killed every 3 days on Kansas roads in alcohol related crashes,” according to the Kansas Department of Transportation. “Research has shown that high-visibility enforcement reduces alcohol-impaired driving fatalities by as much as 20 percent. By joining this nationwide effort, we will make Liberal’s roadways safer for everyone throughout the Memorial Day period.”

In addition to cracking down on impaired drivers, officers of the Liberal Police Department will be strictly enforcing the states seatbelt laws during this time period. Remember if You Drink, You Drive, You Lose. For more information contact the Liberal Police Department at 620-626-0141. Funding for this program is made possible by the Kansas Department of Transportation Division of Traffic Safety.
