Liberal City Commission Meets, Approves Street Sweeper Purchase

The Liberal City Commission met Tuesday evening and Proclaimed October 6-12 as Fire Prevention Week. The Commission also approved Charter Ordinance 37 after a presentation by Ransom Financial. Then approved the purchase of a 2018 Ravo Euro Series 5 Street Sweeper in the amount of $200,000.

The Commission also approved the application for 2 grants, one is a Kansas Housing Resource Grant which would be a pass through grant and if received, would allow developer David Fields to build 14 moderate income homes in the Prairie Breeze Addition in the City of Liberal. The second grant if received from the Kansas Department of Transportation, would allow for the construction of a crosswalk from Seward County Community College west across Kansas Avenue.

Eric Volden was appointed to the Liberal Housing Authority Board and Vice-Mayor Harden, and Commissioners Martinez and Warren we selected as the voting delegates to the League of Kansas Municipalities annual conference.
