Garden City Couple Claim $3 Million Lottery Prize

KSCB News - September 22, 2011 10:18 am

A Kansas couple, who has asked to remain anonymous, has claimed the $3.05 million Super Kansas Cash jackpot from the August 20 drawing. This jackpot is the second largest in the history of the game. The couple won their jackpot prize on a $3 ticket. The winning numbers were 03-08-11-20-28 Cash Ball 08.

“We initially thought we had maybe won $500 when the store clerk scanned our ticket and told us we had to call the Lottery office. Another lottery player in the store who had the winning numbers memorized looked at our ticket, and told us we matched all the numbers and won the jackpot!” the wife said. “It’s taken awhile to sink in how much we’ve actually won.”

When playing Super Kansas Cash, players get two plays for a $1. Since the winners played a $3 ticket, they had six plays for the August 20 drawing. The winners play weekly, picking their own numbers.

The couple plans to share their winnings with family, with their portion going toward bills and planning for retirement.

The winning ticket was purchased at Wheat Lands Country Store, located at 1521 E. Fulton Street, in Garden City.
