Davis Shines at Shrine Bowl

KSCB News - July 26, 2009 12:00 am

Liberal’s Nate Davis had a team high 67 rushing yards and a touchdown to help lead the West to a 14-7 victory over the East in Saturday’s Shrine Bowl at Cessna Stadium in Wichita. It was the fourth straight victory for the West.

The West was coached by Great Bend Head Football Coach Bo Black. Black told the Wichita Eagle that Davis is a big-time back.

“(Davis) is a big-time back, and one thing we were able to do is line up in some tight sets and run some hard football. That’s what he does well.”

Davis is currently up for a ź??Catchyź?? award on catchitkansas.com for the best boys multisport star for the 2008-09 school year. He was the WAC football Player of the Year and 5A All-State RB, 2nd at 5A wrestling in 189-lb. weight class (33-5 record), and 3rd in 110 hurdles at 5A state track. Voting continues through the end of July.

Davis will play college football this upcoming season at Garden City Community College.
