Bee Jays Top Junction City

It took just under two hours for the Liberal Bee Jays to defeat the Junction City Generals 4-2 Tuesday at Brent Gould Field.

The Bee Jays scored first plating two runs in the first inning. Junction City pushed across a run in the fourth to cut the deficit to one, but Liberal added a run in the seventh. The Generals narrowed the gap to one again with a run in the eighth, but the Bee Jays scored an insurance run in the eighth.

The College of Sequoias Mike McBride earned the win for Liberal lasting seven innings giving up just one run off of seven hits. Trinity University’s Tyler Rockafellow came in and pitched one inning of relief giving up one run. Lamar’s Brandon Ward-Hersee pitched a scoreless ninth earning the save.

Seward County’s Kelby Thomlinson helped lead the way for the Bee Jays with an RBI triple in the first anda sacrifice fly that drove in a run. Nicholls State’s Blake Bergeron went 2-4 with an RBI single.

Junction City is now 8-8 overall. The Bee Jays are 12-6. Liberal will play at Dodge City on Thursday at 7 p.m. The game will air on 1270 AM and right here on kscbnews.net.
