Liberal senior running back and defensive end Xavier Tafoya is this week’s Hay Rice and Associates Athlete of the Week.  Tafoya carried 22 times for 240 yards with two touchdowns in Liberal’s 38-8 win Friday night against Ulysses.  It’s the 7th most rushing yards in a single game by a Redskin.  He was also dominant on defense with three tackles for loss and two sacks.  This season, Tafoya leads the Redskins in rushing with 90 carries for 555 yards and eight touchdowns.  He is second in the WAC in rushing and rushing yards.  On defense, Tafoya has 31 tackles with five tackles for loss.  Tafoya is also involved in track, powerlifting, and NHS.
