USD 480 Board Meets Prepares For Growth In The District

The USD 480 Board Of Education met Monday evening for their regularly scheduled meeting and among the items on the Agenda, the Board approved the hiring of several new positions in the District due to the growth of the District. Approved during the meeting was the hiring of 2 – 4th grade teachers, 2 – 5th grade teachers, 2 ESL teachers, 1 Physical Education teacher, 1 Music teacher, 1 Special Education teacher, 1 Computer Para, 1 ESL Para, 1 Migrant Para, 1 IT Staff, and 2 Auxillary Services Staff members. These all are new positions and were made due to the growth in USD 480. The Board als approved the purchase of 2 new Steamer ovens, and 1 Commercial Grade Dishwasher. According to Board President Delvin Kinser, the Board will immediately proceed with a plan on hiring a new Superintendent to replace Dr. Lance Stout, who last week announced his resignation to take a position in Independence Missouri. Part of the plan is to utilize the services of the Kansas State School Board Association to assist in the process.
