The USD 480 Board of Education met Monday evening at 6:30 at East Campus. After approving the consent agenda, the Board approved a partial payment of payment application No. 7 to Osborne Construction in the amount of $17,088.19 for the Rain Screen at Liberal High School. The Board also approved the bid from Diamond Roofing in the amount of $220,057.00 to repair the roof at the McKinley Building.
Approved at the meeting was the service agreement with Motor Mouth Therapy Services for the 2025-2026 school year. USD 480 will be partnering with Motor Mouth Therapy Services for 1 Full Time Equivalent Speech Language Pathologist for the 2025-2026 school year, due to the inability to get qualified applicants to fill the position.
The Board approved the request to hire up to 10 additional teachers through Hirefox for a maximum of $49,650, and approved the 3 year renewal for Leader in Me for EMS and SRMS in the amount of $79,095.70.
A one-year renewal of Imagine Learning-Edgenuity for grades 6-12 in the amount of $37,000 was approved at the meeting, as was the renewal of the annual software and service licenses. The Board also set July 7, 2024 as the organizational meeting for 25-26 school year.
Monday evening the Board approved the Worker’s Comp Insurance renewal in the amount of $ 237,588, and the property and general liability insurance renewal from KICS (Kansas Insurance Cooperative for Schools). The premium for the 25-26 is $636,410.40 which is a 5.75% reduction from last year ($675,290.83).
A Teacher Apprentice Pay Scale was approved by the Board, as was a request for tuition reimbursement by a staff member to complete a teacher plan of study. ESL reimbursement was also approved.
At the meeting approved was the bid for Art Supplies, Paper and General Stock Supplies in the amount of $61,001.76.
