Two Vehicle Accident Injures Motorcycle Driver

A two vehicle accident occurred on Saturday afternoon at approximately 3:54 pm, 1.1 miles South of US Highway 50 on US Highway 83 in Finney County.

A 2018 Harley Davidson motorcycle being driven by Kenneth Poland, 72, of Derby Kansas, was traveling Southbound on Highway 83 when he pulled to shoulder of road to make a U-Turn. A 2006 GMC Sierra, being driven by Hope Horinek, 29, of Sublette, was traveling Southbound as the motorcycle was making the U-turn. Horinek applied her brakes and steered to the left to attempt to avoid a collision. The motorcycle collided with the Sierra on the Northbound fog-line. The Harley rotated clockwise following the collision, and overturned onto its driver’s side, coming to rest in the Southbound lane of US 83. The GMC left the roadway to the left and entered the East ditch before coming to rest facing Southeast.

Poland was taken to St Catherine’s Hospital with suspected serious injuries. Horinek and two juvenile passengers in the GMC Sierra were not injured.
