Texas County Sheriff’s Office Warns of Scam

Joe Denoyer - January 21, 2021 3:55 pm

The Texas County Sheriff’s Office has received reports of residents of Texas County receiving phone calls spoofed with local city and town hall phone numbers. The caller is posing as a police officer and is attempting to get the receiver to commit criminal acts on a computer. The Sheriffs office can only assume that the criminal act will be used to extort money from the victim.

As a reminder never give personal information over the phone.
