Texas County Candidates Set

Election filing period has ended and several residents are in the race for Texas County positions.

For Texas County Commissioner, District 1, Incumbent Ted Keeling will be challenged by Ruth Campbell in the Republican primary. Both candidates are from Hooker.

In the race for Texas County Assessor, three republicans will battle for the position. Judyth Campbell, Jerry Tucker and Jack Peck, all of Guymon, have all filed. Current County Assessor, Thyra Grounds did not seek re-election.

Running unopposed is Democrat Rita Wise as County Treasurer and Democrat Jack Strain of Goodwell for County Commissioner, District 3.

The Texas County Election Board will meet on Friday and until then, the filings are not official.

The primary election will be on July 27 and the runoff is scheduled for August 24, if necessary. The general election is on November 2.
