Syracuse Teen Dies in Crash

A single vehicle accident occurred on Sunday morning at approximately 2:13 am, 4.7 miles west of Syracuse on Highway 50. A 2009 Nissan Altima being driven by Ronnie Gavarrete, 18 of Syracuse was Eastbound on US 50, when he crossed the centerline and left the road to the North. Gavarrete drove over a guardrail and became airborne. The Nissan struck a cement retaining wall of the bridge then came to rest facing Northwest in the North ditch. The vehicle caught fire as a result of the crash.

Gavarrete died at the scene.
