SWMC Names Sandra Cain New Chief Nursing Officer

Southwest Medical is pleased to announce the appointment of Sandra Cain, RN, BSN, as the new Chief Nursing Officer (CNO). Cain will be a part of the SWMC Executive team and will lead our overall hospital patient care team.
“Sandy has demonstrated that she is a leader among her peers. Her desire to see that patients receive quality and compassionate care is what makes her a great nurse and nurse executive,” says Robert Whitaker, SWMC President and & CEO.
Cain has been a part of the Southwest Medical Center family for more than 25 years. Before accepting this new position, Cain served as the Director of Risk Management and Quality Improvement. During her tenure in that role, she led SWMC in multiple quality initiatives to improve patient outcomes. Prior to that role, she had multiple nursing leadership roles at Southwest Medical Center. Cain has her Bachelor of Science in Nursing, from Newman University.

As Chief Nursing Officer, Cain will oversee all nursing activities and more than 150 staff and registered nurses throughout various departments who ensure the delivery of consistent and compassionate care at Southwest Medical Center. Additionally, she will direct the development of initiatives for formulating and implementing new nursing strategies along with keeping staff educated on the latest innovations and techniques.
