Some LHS Juniors and Seniors Lack Required Vaccinations

Brock Kappelmann - October 4, 2021 1:57 pm

Immunization Compliance Notification
LHS nurses have sent out numerous repeat notices for individual students in the junior and senior class who are delinquent in their vaccinations that are required for school attendance. Immunization Compliance is mandated by the State of Kansas and failure to comply will result in exclusion from school until immunizations are completed. We understand there have been challenges in obtaining immunizations due to the current situation, but it is imperative that these are up to date. The most common vaccine that is needed during junior/senior year is the Meningococcal vaccine (meningitis).
Requirements
•Meningococcal: Two doses required. Doses should be given at entry to 7th grade (11-12 years) and 11th grade (16-18 years). For children 16-18 years, with no previous MenACWY, only one dose is required.
If you have an updated shot record please provide those to your school nurse as soon as possible. If you are unsure if your student is compliant, please call your school nurse. Immunizations can be obtained at your local health department, local pharmacies, and health care provider offices.  Genesis Family Health will be hosting a Walk in Vaccine Clinic in October- please see-attached flyer. Please disregard this notice if you have submitted updated shot records.  If you have any questions please contact your school nurse. Thank you!
