Liberal senior golfer and baseball player Skyler Hubbard is this week’s Hay Rice and Associates Athlete of the Week. Hubbard shot a 73 to take third at Willow Tree on the west side of town on Tuesday. He would start on the mound for the baseball team against Dodge City Tuesday night on the east side of town. Last week at Dodge City, Hubbard threw a complete game shutout with seven strikeouts and now walks. Hubbard is 2nd team all WAC in golf and missed 1st team by one stroke. He has been to state golf the past two years. In baseball, Hubbard leads the Redskins pitching staff in innings and ERA. At the plate, he is tied for the team lead with six doubles and seven extra base hits to go along with a .288 batting average. He will compete with the Redskin baseball team for Senior Night Thursday night at 6pm against Hays on 1270 and 92.3. He will play in the regional golf tournament at Dodge City Monday. Hubbard was also a member of NHS, worked at Tomahawk Shop, and part of the Brawl Stars Club.
