Sheriff’s Office Investigates Gunshot Incident

On Monday, June 5th 2023 at 8:24am, the Seward County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an individual laying on the ground near the intersection of Road R and Road 4 in rural Seward County. The reporting party stated that the individual was bleeding from the head.
The Seward County Sheriff’s Office, Seward County Fire Department, and Seward County EMS responded to the location. During the course of the investigation, it was found that the individual was a victim of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The individual was transported to Southwest Medical Center by Seward County EMS and was later transferred to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, KS.
