Satanta Man Killed In One Vehicle Accident

KSCB News - July 1, 2009 12:00 am

A longtime Satanta resident who had been living recently in Goodland was killed Monday in a one-vehicle crash in Grant County.

According to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office, James Schreibvogel, 23, had been traveling east on U.S. Highway 160 at about 7 a.m. Monday, just east of Grant County Road T.

His 1993 half-ton Chevy pickup drifted off the road onto the south shoulder, striking the guard rail, the sheriff’s office reported. His truck then traveled back across U.S. 160, striking the north guard rail and rolling the truck into the north ditch.

Schreibvogel was ejected from the vehicle during the accident and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Grant County coroner, according to the sheriff’s office.

According to Haskell County Funeral Home, Sublette, Schreibvogel was on his way to work in Satanta when the crash occurred. He was a mechanic for Satanta Auto and Tire Service and had been in the process of moving from Goodland to the Satanta area.
