The Seward County Saints rallied from down 8-3 to win 10-8 in 11 innings for a split of a key Jayhawk West series at Dodge City Thursday afternoon. DC3 won the first game 10-0 in five innings.
Game one only last one hour and fifteen minutes. SCCC mustered one hit. The Conquistadors scored three in the second, six in the fourth, and one in the fifth. Seward committed two errors.
In game two, the Conqs jumped on the Saints for two in the first. Seward answered with three in the second to lead 3-2. The Conqs used a six run sixth to lead 8-3. The Saints rallied with two in the eighth and three in the ninth to tie it. The Saints plated two in the 11th for the lead. The Saints out-hit DCCC 13-6. Seward committed two errors and Dodge had one. Nathan Hopkins was 4-5 with three RBI’s and two runs. Ryan Todd was 3-4 with a double. Colton Rowan was 2-5 with a double and two RBI’s. Stephen Brown started and went 5 and 1/3 allowing two earned runs. Cross Durham worked 2 and 2/3 scoreless. John Langehennig went three scoreless innings for the win.
Dodge City is 30-24 overall and 13-17 in the Jayhawk West. Seward is 26-27 overall and 13-17 in the Jayhawk West. The same two teams play Saturday at 1pm at Brent Gould Field for Sophomore Recognition. Saints Dugout Show at 12:45 on 1270 and 92.3.
