Saints Homers Not Enough for Sweep

KSCB News - March 16, 2009 12:00 am

The Saints hit eight home runs in their four game series at Concordia this weekend including five on Sunday while holding Cloud “homerless” this weekend. The Saints won the first game Sunday 11-6 but the Thunderbirds avoided the sweep with a 9-5 game two win. The Saints won the first game behind Perryton lefty Austin Terhune (1-1) who pitched five innings and allowed two earned runs. Travis Parker homered for a team leading fifth time this season. Todd Glime added his second homer and Quay Grant not only homered, but his diving catch and unassisted double play stopped a bases loaded T-Bird rally in the bottom of the sixth. Cloud won game two after the Saints walked eight and beaned two. Five of those base runners would scored and Seward walked home two runs with the bases loaded. Luke Campbell homered twice in game two and three times in the series. Seward is 14-6 overall and 5-3 in the Jayhawk West. The Saints play two at Rose State in Midwest City Tuesday at 1 pm.
