Seward got a highlight reel goal from a home town player and controlled the tempo throughout a 2-0 win over the visiting Trinidad State Trojans Saturday night at Redskin Field. Seward had a massive numbers advantage and TJC played with 11 players while SCCC had 41 players.
Liberal’s all time leading scorer Suain Moncayo thrilled the big opening night crowd with a diving header into the right side of the north goal for the 1-0 lead at the 30:10 mark. Gustavo Chaves lofted a pretty assist over the top of the Trojan defense before Moncayo went air born for the goal. Simone Pitale provided the second half goal into the south net for the 2-0 lead and some cushion. It happened at the 23:59 mark of the second half with an assist from Melvin Soto.
Seward led shots on goal 17-3. Saints goalkeeper Miguel Kwiatkowski had one save.
