Residential Fire: 901 E 2nd St. Lot #25

At 2:32 pm Saturday Liberal firefighters were dispatched to 901 E 2nd Street Lot #25 for a fire in the kitchen of the residence.

 

The first arriving fire & law enforcement personnel encountered a manufactured home with a window mounted air conditioning unit actively burning.  The fire was quickly knocked down and entry was made to extinguish the remaining fire burning in the bay window and front wall area.  All occupants of the home had safely evacuated.  No injuries were reported as a result of the fire. The fire was declared completely out at 2:47 pm. All fire units and personnel cleared the scene at 4:04 pm and were returned to service.

 

The residence suffered significant fire and smoke damage to the interior and was rendered uninhabitable.  The American Red Cross responded to assist the displaced family.  The fire started in the air conditioning unit and spread to the residence.

 

Liberal Fire responded with sixteen personnel, two engines, one squad truck & one officer vehicle.  Other agencies assisting with the fire were:  Liberal Police Department, Seward County EMS, Liberal / Seward County Emergency Communications Center, Black Hills Energy, Southern Pioneer Electric and the American Red Cross.
