Prairieview Elementary Student Dies in Accident

On Wednesday November 17th at approximately 7:40am a fatality accident took place at 602 Hickory Avenue in front of Prairie View Elementary School. A 2016 GMC Sierra 1500 pick up being driven by Lizeth Michelle Hernandez-Ibarra, 25, of Liberal was northbound on Warren Street. The pick up made a left hand turn on to Hickory Avenue and as the truck made the turn, struck a child in the cross walk. The child a 5 year old Kindergarten student, was taken to Southwest Medical Center where he died of his injuries.
