Velma Loveta Hittle, age 100, died on May 26, 2025, at Pioneer Manor Nursing Home in Hugoton. She was born in Morton County to Lee Roy McMillan and Lena (Saul) McMillan on November 12, 1924. They moved to Stevens County soon after. She attended Grade School at Old Dermot, then High School in Hugoton, Kansas.
On December 11, 1941, she married Walter R. Hittle from Barber County (Medicine Lodge). They were married in Boise City, Oklahoma. Four sons were born to this union, Bill, Bob, Jim & Walter Steven. They all reside in Stevens & Morton County’s.
She belonged to the Church of Christ of Hugoton. She was a housewife and a resident of Stevens County all her life. She and her husband had traveled the last 30-some years before Walter‘s death. They enjoyed many years of dancing during their travels.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Walter Hittle, two sons, Bill Hittle and Jim Hittle, two brothers, Issac and Marvin McMillan, and two sisters, Mattie McClure and Hattie Homan.
She is survived by two sons, Bob Hittle & his wife, Diana of Hugoton, and Steve Hittle & his wife, Cindy of Rolla; two daughters-in-law, Linda Hittle and Connie Hittle, both of Hugoton; Ten grandchildren, Barry Hittle, Kristina Wight, Kyle & Kelly Hittle, Chad Hittle, Keena McIntyre, Jenni Pelland, Laurie Crawford, Scott Hittle and April Wood; Twenty-two great grandchildren, Chase, Carly, Kalinda, Krystal, Dexter, Emmy, Kelsey, Keely, Matthew, Tyler, Kolby, Kaleb, Dylan, Bailey, Kaiser, Blake, Brock, Madison, Lexi, Preston, Britney & Charlotte; and nine great great grandchildren, Payson, Callan, Adler, Hallie, Nevaeh, Destiny, Carson, Kora, and Marily, as well as one more on the way.
A memorial has been established for Hugoton FFA, which is in care of Robson Funeral Home, PO Box 236, Hugoton, Kansas 67951.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 1, 2025, from 3 P.M. until 8 P.M., and family will receive friends from 5 P.M. until 7 P.M. at Robson Funeral Home of Hugoton.
Funeral service will be held on Monday, June 2, 2025, at 10 A.M at Hugoton Assembly of God with Pastor Tim Singer presiding. Burial to follow at Hugoton Cemetery, Hugoton, Kansas.
