Beloved Rosanne (Jones) Panter, age 94, entered into eternal peace on July 29, 2025. Rosanne was born south of Plainville in Rooks County, Kansas on January 27, 1931. She was the youngest of six children, being the only girl, born to Boyd and Naomi Irene (Yohe) Jones.
While attending Athol High School, Rosanne worked for Bell Telephone in Smith Center, Kansas as a phone operator and continued after graduation. She met the love of her life, Dee, who had just discharged from the Army. They fell in love and were married on June 16, 1950, a love that lasted 67 years. From this blessed union came three children; Dwight Kent, Jo Jean and Justin Scott. Dee and Rosanne made homes in rural Athol, Kansas, Shiprock, New Mexico, Masterson, Texas, Keyes, Oklahoma and built their forever home in Elkhart, Kansas in 1962.
Rosanne enjoyed working with people and had many professions throughout her life. Besides working at Bell Telephone, she also babysat, worked at Ideal Grocery, Melia’s Gas Station, Anadarko, Jim-N-I’s, Fashions Unlimited and for the national park in Grand Tetons, Wyoming.
In her spare time, she could be found reading, quilting, crocheting, and bowling. Never one to pass up a good puzzle, she also enjoyed a competitive game of cards with friends and family. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary, Quilters Guild, Chit Chat Club and Bridge Club.
Left to carry on her love and laughter; children, Dwight Panter of Aurora, Colorado, Jo Jean Johnson and husband Mike of Yarbrough, Oklahoma and Justin Panter of Boquete, Panama; grandchildren, Melodee Brinster and husband Chris of Wheat Ridge, Colorado, Arlo Panter of Denver, Colorado, Mikala Towler and husband Dane of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Kayle Watkins and husband Kyle of Lebanon, Pennsylvania; and great-granddaughters, Rosalee and Ramona Brinster and Sawyer Watkins.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Dee; parents, Boyd and Naomi; and brothers, Hugh, Jay, Harry, Loren and Don.
Funeral services will be Saturday, August 2, 2025, at 10:00 AM at First Church of God in Elkhart, Kansas, with Jess Lee officiating. Interment will follow at Elkhart Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, August 1, 2025, from 6:00-8:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home in Elkhart.
