In Loving Memory of Richard Lee “Dick” Hoskinson
Be brave, loyal, and kind—but most importantly, be love. Your faith and your family should always come first. Those are the characteristics that described our dad.
Once in a great while, a man comes along who shows the world what it means to truly be a man—a man who loves his wife and devotes his life to ensuring she always knows she is loved and cared for. A man who loves his children and gives them the values they need to be successful. A man who believes his grandchildren are the most precious beings on earth. A man who treats every person with kindness and respect, seeing value in everyone he meets. An unselfish man.
That man was our dad.
Richard Lee “Dick” Hoskinson was born on October 4, 1943, to Floyd and Edith Hoskinson.
He attended school in the Hugoton School District, graduating in 1961. After graduation, he proudly served in the United States Navy from 1961–1964 aboard the aircraft carrier USS Ranger, where his primary duty was loading bombs in the hull of the planes.
On August 21, 1965, Dick married the love of his life, Peggy Ellen Hull. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised four children—Jeff, Andra, Justin, and Jared. Dick was a devoted husband who always made sure Peggy knew she was first in his heart. He was the kind of father who made his kids feel like the most special people in the world and taught them that with hard work and determination, anything was possible. He shared his work ethic, his devotion, and his ornery nature with his children, as well as many of their friends, whom he helped coach and guide through the years.
Dick went to heaven on October 20, 2025, to be reunited with his beloved son Jared. As we try to find our way without him, we can only imagine the joy of their reunion. He now joins his son Jared Alan Hoskinson, great-grandson Paxton Parker, daughter-in-law Kim Hoskinson, parents Floyd Hoskinson and Edith Christopher, and in-laws George and Fairy Hull.
He is survived by his devoted wife and best friend of 60 years, Peggy; his children, who he loved beyond measure: Jeff and wife Deleta, Andra, and Justin; and his pride and joys—his grandchildren: Baylee Wendt (Jared), Dallie Hoskinson, Laney Coziahr (Carter), Kyre Larrabee-Glasscock (Jacob), Kash Larrabee (Taylor), Kali Winger (George), Kacee Hughey (Logan), Sage Hoskinson (Madison), and Chantry Parker (Russell). He also leaves behind his newest loves, his great-grandchildren: Hudson Winger, Waylon Larrabee, BlakeLynn Coziahr, Leeum Wendt, and Marlow Hoskinson; as well as his brothers Ted (Darlene) Hoskinson and Wayne Hoskinson; and a large extended family and many dear friends who loved him immensely.
We have not lost our dad—our Pop—because he will forever live in our hearts through the memories we cherish. He was a goofball, and we’re grateful we each inherited a little of that from him. We will strive to live our lives as he did. He always said, “Every day is a blessing when you wake up—be thankful and don’t waste it.”
We will live with love in our hearts and do our best to be good and kind—for the man who loved us beyond measure and will be waiting for us in heaven. Just don’t embarrass the family.
