Margarita “Maggie” L. Ledesma

Margarita “Maggie” L. Ledesma, age 65, died Saturday, October 4, 2025, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City, Kansas. She was born on May 3, 1960, in Ulysses, Kansas, the daughter of Cresencio E. “Frank” and Sulema (Leal) Barron. 

Maggie grew up and attended school in Ulysses. She married Victor M. Ledesma, Sr. on January 13, 1977, in Lakin. Maggie worked as a para and ESL instructor at Sullivan and Red Rock Schools. She was well known for being a bookkeeper at Grant County Bank for 19 years, finishing her working career at Bright Beginnings Preschool. Maggie loved spending time with her grandkids and following all their activities. She also enjoyed cooking, cleaning, and watching football and golf. Maggie loved people and enjoyed visiting with everyone she met. Maggie was an active member of the Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church.

Maggie is survived by her husband, Victor M. Ledesma, Sr. of their home; sons, Victor M. Ledesma, Jr. and wife Melanie, Juan Ledesma and wife Sarah, and Alejandro Ledesma and wife Jamie all of Ulysses; brothers, Mike Miranda of Lubbock, Texas, and Abundio F. Barron and wife Tamera of Hutchinson, Kansas; sister, Diana Olivas and husband Faby of Ulysses; sister-in-law, Antonia Nuñez of Mexico; five grandchildren, Caden, Cason, Braxton, Presley and Mariah Ledesma; and numerous nieces and nephews.

  

Maggie is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Sulema Barron; and siblings, Deborah Barron, Susana Barron, and Cresencio E. Barron, Jr.

Rosary will be Friday, October 10, 2025, at 9:00 AM with Funeral Mass following at 10:00 AM both at Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Ulysses, Kansas, with Reverend Eric Gyamfi officiating. Interment will follow at the Ulysses Cemetery. Visitation is Thursday, October 9, 2025, from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM with family present from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses.
