New Trial Ordered For Police Officer

KSCB News - September 30, 2011 3:39 pm

A former Dodge City police officer found guilty of murdering his ex-girlfriend will get a new trial.

The Kansas Supreme Court today ordered a new trial for Christopher Tahah.

Tahah was found guilty of felony murder in the May, 2007 death of Erin Jones. Jones was found with a gunshot wound in her Dodge City home. Investigators said Tahah admitted to being in Jones’ backyard and pointing a rifle at her. Tahah told investigators the rifle accidentally fired as he lowered it.

The justices ordered the new trial because jurors in Tahah’s case were not allowed to consider the lesser offenses of second degree reckless murder or involuntary manslaughter.
