Milestone for Myers in Marchino’s First Win

In her second game in Seward green, she has a school record.  Allie Myers pulled down a school record 23 rebounds in helping secure the first win under head coach Will Marchino.  Seward held off a stubborn Otero team 64-59 Saturday evening at the McDivitt Center in La Junta.  Axelle Bernard had 21 rebounds during the 14-15 season.

The Lady Saints led 22-16 after one and led 32-21 for their biggest lead.  Seward took a 36-27 lead into the halftime locker room.  The Lady Rattlers outscored SCCC 32-28.

Seward won despite shooting 28 percent.  SCCC was 22-31 at the foul line and Otero was 9-19. Seward was 6-19 from three and the Lady Rattlers were 11-28.

Allie Myers was the Epic Touch Player of the Game with 16  points and 23 rebounds.  Jamia Carter scored 13 and Kayla Peoples scored 10.

The 1-1 Lady Saints win a road game against an Otero program which has won 21 in each of the past two years.  Otero is 0-2.  Seward plays at Clarendon Wednesday night at 6pm with Saints Shoot-around at 5:45 on 107.5.
