Mellen Named Regional Coach of the Year

Southwestern Heights girls basketball coach Berry Mellen is a regional coach of the year. The National Federation of High School Activities named Mellen the Regional High School Girls Basketball Coach of the year. The region consists of Kansas, Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Minnesota. Mellen’s Lady Mustangs are 20-0 after a 25-1 state championship season in 3A last year. Mellen received the award Tuesday night during the basketball double header at Southwestern Heights.
