Local Group Endorses Candidates at Meeting

KSCB News - July 16, 2010 12:00 am

‘We the People’ met Thursday night and passed out ballots and agreed to vote to endorse candidates for the upcoming primary on August 3.

The group agreed that a candidate needed to recieve at least 70% of the vote for there to be an endorsement. The group also agreed to not endorse local candidates.

The group has chosen to endorse Todd Tiahrt (71%) for U.S. Senate; Sam Brownback (89%) for Governor of Kansas; Kris Kobach (89%) for Secretary of State, Ralf De Zago (77%) for Attorney General, Ron Estes (100%) for State Treasurer, and Dave Powell (100%) for Insurance Commissioner.

The race for U.S. Congress was split and there was no candidate who recieved the required 70% or above, so the group will not be endorsing a candidate for that spot.
