The individuals attempting to steal money from you are using basic information that can be found online and sending a check to your residence or P.O. box with a list of steps that need to be followed to cash the checks. These steps include depositing the check into your personal account through mobile deposit or ATM. Depositing checks in this manner creates a loop hole around your bank’s security system to avoid fraudulent checks.

If you receive a check in the mail that was not expected or with instructions to deposit the check through mobile or ATM, please report the incident to the Liberal Police Department or your local authorities.
