Liberal City Commission Approve Changes to Fireworks Ordinance

The Liberal City Commission met Tuesday evening and after approving GO Bonds 2021 A and B, approved changes to the fireworks regulations. Changes include the shooting of fireworks to July 3rd, 4th, and 5th, however sales will be expanded to include a beginning sale date of June 27th. Also approved was the removal from the banned items, Roman Candles and Torpedos, and the issuance of signage with all the rules and regulations.

Commissioners approved the purchase of a Hustler Hyperdrive from Keating Tractor in the amount of $12,250, and gave cemetery staff permission to draft an Ordinance regarding Monument Regulations.

The Master Plan Grant application was approved at a cost of $461,000 with the city’s portion being $23,050.

A manhole rehabilitation plan was approved at a cost of $39,160 for 3 years, and the purchase of a Hydrostop machine for the Water Department was approve from Tracy King for $20,000.

The Commissioners also approved the application for a KDHE Public Water Supply loan.
