Liberal Airport Construction, Temporary Closure Dates

The Liberal Airport will be closed for construction beginning January 8, 2024 with an anticipated reopening date of February 12, 2024.

Construction involves runway lighting upgrades on the main runway which were requested by the airport’s operating airline – SkyWest Airlines. SkyWest Airlines has opted not to utilize the available crosswind runway at Liberal Airport to maintain service during construction.

Air medical transport services will continue to be available using Liberal Airport’s crosswind runway.

The City of Liberal delayed this project – which was requested to occur in December – in order to maintain airline access for residents and their families during the holiday season.
