Two of Liberal??s own have returned and one of those, Holly Brewer, APRN (Advanced Practice Registered Nurse), will be joining the Liberal medical community in the office of family practitioner, Dr. Francisco Chacon.

A Liberal High School graduate, Brewer was born and raised in Liberal. She recently moved back to Liberal from Houston, Texas, where she and her family have been living for the past eight years.

??My husband, Kyle, and I are very excited to be back in Liberal and have the opportunity to raise our children in a small community,? Brewer said. ??We both have family here and we are also glad to be back closer to our families.?

Kyle and Holly went to elementary school together in Liberal. After Kyle moved away, they didn’t see each other until their paths crossed again at Kansas State University. After they got married, they moved to Houston, Texas to start their careers.

The first in her family to go into healthcare, Brewer said she saw the field as a challenge and an opportunity.

??I originally went into nursing because I saw the opportunity to make a huge difference in the lives of other people,? she said. ??I enjoy the challenges as well as the relationships I have developed through my role as a nurse practitioner.?

Brewer is particularly interested in family medicine.

??I like to focus on health and wellness,? she said, ??in particular the prevention of diseases so people can take control of their own health.?

Dr. Chacon is pleased to have Holly on board.

“I am ecstatic to have someone such as Holly join our practice and rejoin the community. Her caring nature combined with her professionalism will be a wonderful addition to our community’s medical staff,? he said.

Brewer said she is also ??looking forward to getting to know the others in the local medical community better and collaborating with the other medical professionals in the area.?

Bill Ermann, SWMC Interim president and chief executive officer, said ??We are very pleased to have Holly and her family return to Liberal. Holly??s return shows she truly cares about her community and has a strong commitment to providing high quality health care to Liberal and the surrounding area.?

Brewer obtained her Bachelor of Science in Life Sciences from Kansas State University, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Baker University in Topeka, and her Family Nurse Practitioner degree from Texas Woman??s University in Houston.

Her husband is employed as an engineer for DCP Midstream. The couple currently has one daughter, Faith, 2. Brewer is the daughter of Rick and Carla Hanson of Liberal. She began working in the office of Dr. Francisco Chacon the beginning of October and will be there to assist with seeing patients on a part time basis.
