The largest high school track and field meet in the country kicked off on Friday at University Stadium on the campus of Wichita State. It was the opening day of the 2025 Kansas state high school track and field meet and several area athletes completed their seasons with more to follow on Saturday. Here are the Day 1 results for the area athletes that competed:
Liberal High School Day 1 Results – Friday, May 30, 2025
Senior Tyren Holmes closed out an impressive high school athletes career with a 4th place finish in the Class 6A shot put with a mark of 51.75
Senior Miguel Ovalle finished 12th in the Boys 6A Discus with a mark of 130-4
Senior Xavier Tafoya finished 12th in the Boys 6A Javelin with a mark of 151-3
Senior Ayden Juarez finished 16th in the Boys 6A Javelin with a mark of 136-7
Freshman Miah Janko finished 10th in Class 6A 200 Meter with a time of 26.04.
Liberal Girl’s 4×100 team of Janko, Hannah McCarter Klaire Anderson Bentley Fitzgerald finished 14th in the state with a time of 50.21
Hannah McCarter, Miah Janko, Janaya Devorce, and Bentley Fitzgerald finished 12th in the 4×400 with a time of 4:12.38
On her own in the 400 Meter senior Bentley Fitzgerald finished 11th with 59.50
LHS Boys 4×400 team of Alex Koerner, Chris Marin, Max Holman, and Diego Pavia finished 12th with a time of 3:27:00
Junior Diego Pavia finished 10th in the 6A 400 Meter with a time of 50.19

Freshman Miah Janko finished 9th in the Girl’s 6A 100 Meter with a time of 12.55
Junior Naziah Williams finished in 5th Place in the Girl’s Class 6A Discus with a throw of 122-2
Senior Kamilah Delgado finished in 10th Place in the Girl’s Class 6A Discus with a throw of 112-7
