KDOT Projects To Begin In Haskell County

KSCB News - July 11, 2013 11:40 am

The Kansas Department of Transportation expects work on a resurfacing project on U.S. 83 in northern Haskell County to begin by Thursday, July 11, weather permitting. The project runs from the U.S. 83/U.S. 160/K-144 junction, north to the Haskell/Finney county line, a distance of about 12 miles.

During construction, traffic will be limited to one lane through the work zone, guided by a pilot car. Drivers can expect delays of 15 minutes or less. The Kansas DOT urges drivers to be alert, pay attention to all work zone warning signs, slow down when approaching a work zone and be prepared to stop. Oversized loads will be restricted to a maximum length of 80 feet and a maximum width of 18 feet.

APAC Kansas, Inc., Shears Division is the primary contractor on this project at a cost of about $1.1 million. KDOT expects work on this project to be completed by the end of July, depending on weather.

Work has resumed on a bridge repair project in Haskell County. The bridge is on U.S. 56 over the Cimarron River, about ½-mile northeast of the Seward/Haskell county line. This phase of the project involves overlaying the bridge deck.

During daylight hours, when work is underway, traffic will be limited to one lane across the bridge, controlled by flaggers. Delays should be minimal. The Kansas DOT urges drivers to be alert, pay attention to all work zone warning signs, slow down when approaching a work zone and be prepared to stop.

PBX Corporations and Subsidiaries of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, is the primary contractor on this project at a cost of approximately 350 thousand dollars. KDOT expects work on this project to be completed by the end of July, depending on weather.

If you have questions on this project, you can call Greg Adams, Construction Engineer, at 620-624-4451.
