KDOT names Craig Schlott the Construction and Materials Engineer for District Six

The Kansas Department of Transportation recently named Craig Schlott, P.E., as district six construction and materials engineer. He replaces Mike Pittman, who retired from the agency in June.

Schlott has been with KDOT for nearly 25 years and began his career as an Engineering Associate I in the Garden City Construction Office. He was promoted to Area Construction Engineer in 2006 and then to Assistant District Construction and Materials Engineer in 2024. A native of Lamar, Colorado, he received his civil engineering degree from Colorado School of Mines. He currently resides in Garden City.

“Craig’s experience has given him an in-depth knowledge of both KDOT and the transportation needs of southwest Kansas,” said District Engineer Joe Finley. “This is a great next step in his career, and we’re confident he will continue to excel as he steps into his new role.”

As the district construction and materials engineer, Schlott will be responsible for leading construction activities for southwest Kansas, which includes four construction offices, and overseeing the district materials lab.
