Kansas Housing Agency Seeks Loan Proposals

A state agency is seeking proposals for using $2 million in state funding for rural moderate-income housing.

The Kansas Housing Resources Corporation program is open to communities across Kansas with populations of less than 60,000. The grants and loans are for building multi-family or single-family housing, to rehabilitate housing and to build utility extensions to support any new developments.

The housing corporation defines moderate annual income as between about $23,000 and $110,000, though those numbers vary with family size. The idea is to fill a gap for people who make too much to be eligible for federal housing programs, but not enough to afford market-rate housing.

KHRC will hold public meetings about the program this week around the state. Applications are due Sept. 6.
