Liberal’s softball team traveled to Lakin Wednesday and took two over the Lakin Broncos 15-4 and 20-8.  Liberal is back over .500 for their season at 13-12.

In game one, Lakin scored a run in the second.  Liberal scored four in the third, three in the fourth, two in the fifth and sixth, and four in the seventh.  LHS out-hit Lakin 18-11.  Allie Champion was 4-4 with two home runs, a double, and four RBI’s.  Taylor Harding was 4-4 with a home run, two doubles, and six RBI’s.  Lexi Miller, Haiden Lyon, and McKenna Alexander added two hits a piece.  Zoey Torres and Jaylin Hernandez slammed home runs giving LHS five for the game.  Devaney Carter went six strong innings for the win.

In game two, Liberal scored four in the first, one in the second, one in the third, four in the fifth, four in the sixth, and six in the seventh.  Lakin scored eight in the fifth.  Liberal out-hit Lakin 23-13.  LHS committed three errors.  Zoey Torres was 4-4 with a home run and four RBI’s.  Haiden Lyon was 4-5 with a triple.  Miley Janko was 3-4.  Taylor Harding was 2-4 with two doubles.  Allie Champion, Jaylin Hernandez, and McKenna Alexander added two hits a piece.  Brooklyn Short hit a home run as Liberal had two in the game and seven for the day in Lakin.  Zoey Torres pitched 4 and 2/3 allowing three earned runs.  Allie Champion went 2 and 1/3 allowing one earned run.

Lakin is 10-14.  Liberal is 13-12 and hosts Dodge City Thursday at about 6pm at the National Beef Sports Complex.
