Hobble resigns from SCCC Board of Trustees

Joe Denoyer - July 20, 2021 8:36 pm

LIBERAL, Kan. — Sharon Hobble has resigned from the Seward County Community College Board of Trustees, it was announced at Monday’s board meeting.

Hobble, who was elected to the board in 2019, handed her resignation letter to SCCC Board Chair Ron Oliver.

“With sincere regret, I am resigning from this board,” Hobble wrote. “I am relocating to the Dallas-Fort Worth area due to severe and sudden hearing loss to be with two daughters who live in that area. I have special feelings for this institution and wish you as an institution the very best.”

Hobble’s resignation is effective immediately and a decision on a replacement will be determined at a future board meeting.

“She’s done an excellent job,” Oliver said. “We’re going to miss her greatly.”

Hobble was a long-time board member, serving for nearly 20 years, before resigning in 2016. She decided to run again for the board and was elected in 2019.

Hobble’s husband, Herb, was elected to the first board of trustees in 1967. He ultimately served for 27 years, retiring from the board in 1994.
