Fatality Crash In Gray County

A fatality accident occurred Thursday morning at approximately 8:10 am, on US 56 at milepost 84 .5 miles northeast of Copeland. The accident happened when a 2021 KIA Sportage being driven by Angela C. Rodriguez, 59, of Dodge City was westbound on US 56, and a 2015 Chevy Suburban being driven by Margareth Wiebe, 32, of Sublette, was eastbound on U56 at milepost 84. Rodriguez lost control of her vehicle due to slush on the roadway. The Wiebe vehicle impacted the passenger side of of the KIA in the eastbound lane. The KIA came to rest in the south ditch. The Suburban came to rest in the eastbound lane.

Rodriguez died at the scene, Wiebe suffered minor injuries and was taken to St. Catherines Hospital in Dodge City.
