The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) named Joe Finley the new District Six Engineer. He succeeds Ron Hall, who recently became KDOT’s Director of Field Operations.
Finley began his KDOT career in 1985 as an Engineer-in-Training in Dodge City. He later served as a Construction Engineer I and then as a Construction Engineer II. In 1991, Finley left KDOT to work in the private sector before becoming the City Engineer and Public Works Director for the City of Dodge City.
He returned to KDOT in 2011 as the District Maintenance Engineer for District Three in northwest Kansas. Finley later transferred to District Six, where he served as Staff Engineer. In 2016, he was named District Maintenance Engineer, a role he held until his recent promotion.
As District Six engineer, Finley now oversees the construction and maintenance of more than 3,349 miles of state highways across 19 counties in southwest Kansas.
“As I step into this role, I want to emphasize that our work in rural Kansas is essential to connecting and supporting our communities and local economies,” Finley said. “As the new district engineer for KDOT, I’m excited to continue working alongside our dedicated team in this new role. I want to emphasize that our work in rural Kansas is not done, and we will continue to connect and support our communities and local economies.”
Finley and his wife, Susan, reside in Dodge City and have three adult children.
