City Of Liberal Hears Discussion of Common Consumption Areas

In a Special called Liberal City Commission meeting that was held at 4:00 pm, the Liberal City Commission discussed two agenda items, Common Consumption Areas, and Mobile Vendors. Decisions on these items will be voted on at upcoming meetings.

In their regular meeting, Commissioners heard an update from Truancy Court, and with the adoption of Ordinance No. 4635, regarding fireworks, Fire Marshal Cody Regier, has worked to develop strategies to:

• Disseminate information regarding changes to the fireworks ordinance.
• Provide information and assistance to vendors seeking a license for seasonal fireworks stands.
• Encourage compliance with the ordinance regarding the sale, discharge, and public display of
fireworks.
• Improve enforcement of the ordinance regarding the discharge of fireworks within the City limits.

Commissioners also approved the Quitclaim Deed, of an easement near Arkalon Park and signed an easement over to Joshua and Fiona Knudsen. The access point to their home was actually owned by the City of Liberal. Since signed, all maintenance of this area will fall on the new owners.
