The Liberal City Commission met on Tuesday evening at 5:30 PM in the City Commission Chambers. Commissioners heard the City’s Audit from Hay, Rice, and Associates, approved the Audit as presented, and entered into a contract with Hay, Rice, and Associates for next year’s audit.
The Commission held a Public Hearing on the Revenue Neutral Rate, then approved the adoption of Resolution No. 2437, to levy a property tax rate exceeding the Revenue Neutral Rate for the budget year 2026.
Commissioners gave approval to Resolution No. 2438, allowing for the application of the Water Project Funds Grant, thenĀ accepted the dedication of 1200 Block of Sinanche Avenue, 100 & 200 Block of McCray Boulevard and Linn Court within the Ortuno Housing Addition, with maintenance responsibilities transferring from O.C. Quality Custom Homes to the City of Liberal effective August 26, 2025.1200 Block of South Lincoln Avenue.
As far as the Ortuno Retention Pond the Commissioners decided to discuss it further in a work session.
Approval was given to purchase of 17 well meters and 300 1″ meters in an amount not to exceed $275,000.00
The City Commission approved the purchase of firearms, holsters, and training aids for the Liberal Police Department in an amount not to exceed $50,000, to be funded from the Police Department’s General Fund Budget, and the Commission to either approved the application for 112 W. 2nd Street for the Neighborhood Revitalization Program.
The Commission reappointed Kathleen Alonso to the Liberal Memorial Library Board.
