City Chooses High Plains Daily Leader Despite Higher Bid

The High Plains Daily Leader Newspaper will be the official newspaper for the City of Liberal this year. The city commission voted 3-2 to give the newspaper that designation at Tuesday night’s city commission meeting. The Leader will get city business and publish legal notices in the Leader. They were selected despite being the high bid. The Leader’s bid to the city was $3.90 per column inch while the Southwest Times Newspaper’s bid was a penny per column inch. In other action from the board the commission appointed Terry Kilgore to the airport advisory board, and approved the vouchers In the amount of $7,522,090.97. This amount reflects the payoff of the Trailmobile bonds, principal and interest. The next meeting of the Liberal City Commission will be June the 9th.
