Bee Jays Romp Past Denver

The Liberal Bee Jays used a seven run second inning on the way to a 19-4 win over the Denver Cougars Saturday night at Brent Gould Field.  After losing to Denver on Monday night in Denver, the “Powder Blue and Red” has won four in a row.

Liberal scored one in the first.  Isaac Webb blooped a hustling double to right and later scored when the Cougar pitcher made a pick off move to first.  The B.J.’s broke it open early with a seven run second.  River Jackson singled before two walks.  Isaac Webb grounded out to scored run.  Ryuta Kusumoto drove home two with a single.  Walker Polk singled home a run.  Silas Shafter singled home a run.  Ethan Calder ripped a two run home run to right.  Denver scored in the third on Zeke Minic’s home run.  Denver pitched hit the first two batters of the third.  Coldon Kiser singled.  Isaac Webb singled home two.  Silas Shafter added a two RBI single.  Denver scored one in the fourth.  Liberal scored three in the fourth for a 15-2 lead.  After a walk and HBP, Denver committed an error.  Ryota Kusumoto singled home a run.  Silas Shafter singled home a run.  Liberal scored without a hit in the fifth.  The Cougars scored two in the sixth.  The Bee Jays added three in the sixth.  Coldon Kiser singled to lead off the sixth.  Mateo Garcia singled.  Ryuta Kusumoto singled home two.  Jett Brown ripped a double to center.  Silas Shafter hit a sac fly.

Liberal out-hit Denver 16-8.  Both teams committed three errors.  Ryuta Kusumoto was 3-5 with five RBI’s.  Silas Shafter was 3-4 with five RBI’s.  Isaac Webb was 2-3 with three RBI’s.  Ethan Calder was 2-4 with a home run and a double.  He has five extra base hits in the two game series.  Jackson Berry worked four innings allowing two runs.  Tyson Carlton pitched a scoreless inning.  Kage Ralstin worked two innings allowing two runs.
