The Liberal Bee Jays played a non league game against the Dodge City A’s Monday night at Brent Gould Field.  Liberal topped the A’s 3-1 one night after their 13 game winning streak was snapped.  Liberal received very good pitching from two pitchers who are leaving them due to innings limits.  Nate Lockwood worked four innings and Parker King worked the last three innings.

Matt Cormier led off the fourth with a triple over the center fielder’s head.  Tanner Gerosa singled him home.  Matt Mendez, Elijah Batista, and Ben Merriman singled to begin the fifth.  With two outs, Matt Cormier lined a two RBI single to left for the 3-0 lead.  The A’s scored a run in the sixth.

Liberal out-hit DC 8-3.  Neither team committed an error.  Nate Lockwood was Epic Touch Player of the Game as he pitched four strong innings with five strikeouts and one walk.  Parker King worked three innings for the save allowing one run on two hits.  Matt Cormier was 2-3 with a triple and two RBI’s.  Matt Mendez was 2-2.

Dodge City is 10-15 and Liberal is 18-3.  Liberal returns to league play at Hays Tuesday night at 7pm with the Dugout Show at 6:45 on 1270 and 92.3.
