The Liberal Bee Jays evened their series with the Gameday Angels from Parker, Colorado Friday night at Brent Gould Field. The B.J.’s held the Angels to four hits in an 8-4 win.
The Bee Jays started fast offensively scoring three in the first. The first three B.J. batters walked. Drew Garcia, in his first game with the team, singled home two runs. The Bee Jays scored the third run on an error. The Angels answered with three in the second. Liberal pitching walked two in the inning. Liberal committed an error and Gameday had two hits. The Jays bounced back in the third with three runs to re-take the lead. JT Cox singled to lead off the inning. With one out Landon Bruce singled. Brand Wilson singled home a run. Drew Garcia hit a sacrifice fly to center. Carson Willis singled home a run. The Angels chased home a sixth inning run without a hit. The Bee Jays walked two and hit a batter. Liberal added two insurance runs in the eighth. Matt Bernath provided the only hit of the inning.
Both teams committed five errors in the loss. Liberal out-hit the Angels 8-4. The B.J.’s were strong on the mound. Alex Lora worked four innings allowing two earned runs with nine strikeouts and two walks earning him Epic Touch Player of the Game. Darrius Brown went three innings allowing one run. Trevor Steele pitched a scoreless inning striking out three. Aden Bowman pitched a scoreless ninth with three strikeouts.
The Angels are 3-2 and Liberal is 4-2 and 3-2 in the Rocky Mountain. The same two teams meet Saturday night at 7pm at Brent Gould Field. Ashley Homestore is the buyout sponsor. The game airs on 1270 and 92.3 with pre-game at 6:45.
